Art details

This artwork portrays myself holding an oil-paper umbrella, capturing the conflict between tradition and modernity, the individual and the group, in a single silent moment.
Through the subway window, the gazes of strangers rush in like a tide—filled with curiosity yet distant and cold. They seem to be observing, merely watching from afar. The contrast between the transparent window and the opaque umbrella highlights the separation between me and the outside world.
It also hints at a deeper clash of ideas: How can individuals find a sense of belonging within a modern, collective society? And how can tradition remain meaningful in a rapidly changing world?
